It’s always a pleasure for our ears to have a vinyl release from regional artists such is Shoxy (Nenad Petronijević). His 5th vinyl this year goes to FA>IERecords that already released names like Archie Hamilton, Drana, Herck, Lorenzo Chiabotti, Just_Me, Petar Cvetković and many others from house and techno underground. This 4 tracks EP features 3 original tracks by Shoxy and a rework by Danish / Swedish producer Martin Swanstein aka Martinez. The whole EP is predominately between minimal-tech-dub-house with atmospheric patterns that can be heard in first tune „Zemlja“ (meaning „Earth“ in Serbian) which samples Vladimir Marković, famous Serbian composer who made the first electronic studio in the ’60s, in Belgrade.
While „Zemlja“ is atmospheric and deep, „Regards“ comes as dry and edgy with the pure groove. On B-side there’s a „Drum State“ with Martinez Rework that suits the best for us. Bumpy and grindy both versions do their best on the dancefloor. Rework is more subtle on the groove with an emphasis on the bassline and open hi-hats while original keeps the raw drums in focus with background atmosphere going on while vocals are coming in & out. The more you listen to this EP, the more you are hooked to it.
Interesting fact is that the moody cover is done by Brian (Halo) Varga from Halo & Hipp-E (also known as H-Foundation). All in all this one decent vinyl EP that will be released on 22nd of September 2017.
